I would highly recommend only adopting a pet from reputable breeders. Once you have seen a kitten or puppy that you wish to give a home for life to. However, there are many genuine breeders who are not registered. I would recommend visiting the person who has a kitten or puppy for sale and also ask to see the mum and dad of the kittens/puppies, before any monies are paid

There are many different ways to adopt a kitten or puppy, of which the vast majority of transactions go through without any problems, I must stress the vast majority of breeders, sellers and buyers are genuine, despite this there are various unscrupulous people out there seeking to make some easy money from any unsuspecting animal lover, releiving buyers from their cash, leaving them with nothing to show for it.
Whatever you are considering buying, an expensive horse, pedigree puppy or
kittens, even a rabbit or hamster, it is important to remember. Ensure you carry out your due diligence and checkout any seller.
Never pay a deposit for a kitten or puppy before you have seen them in person unless, in circumstances where any kitten or puppy is some way away. You can request a video link via Whatsapp or Facetime and ensure you see the litter, mum and dad.

When you pay any deposit try to ensure you make any payment via bank transfer, I do not recommend paying cash. Please remember, if you do change your mind after paying the deposit, it is normal for the breeder, seller to keep the deposit.
When the time comes for collecting any kitten or puppy particularly when they are a pedigree (registered). Ensure you collect your chosen pet if possible. Beware of unsavoury characters who on the day of collection make an excuse they have had to go somewhere that day so they will have to meet you halfway.
Do not part with any money until you have seen all the documentation. One of the biggest scams is the above problem.
